BANZSL

BANZSL stands for British, Australian, and New Zealand Sign Language. It is a term used to refer to a group of sign languages used primarily in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

While British Sign Language (BSL), Auslan (Australian Sign Language), and New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) are distinct sign languages, they share historical roots and have some similarities due to the historical connections between these countries. BANZSL is used as an umbrella term to acknowledge these similarities and the regional connections between the sign languages used in these countries.

Each of these sign languages has its own unique features, grammar, and vocabulary. BSL is used by the Deaf community in the United Kingdom, Auslan is used by the Deaf community in Australia, and NZSL is used by the Deaf community in New Zealand. These sign languages are recognized as official languages in their respective countries and are used for communication between Deaf individuals or between Deaf and hearing individuals.
